From Muthad village in Jalna district, Maharashtra, Radha Jadhavโ€™s journey began in a home with limited means. After losing her father at a young age, she was married off at 16 into a joint family with no land or stable income. With little education and few opportunities, life was a constant struggle.

In 2015, Radha joined the Jai Bhavani Womenโ€™s Self-Help Group (SHG). She soon became president and bookkeeper, gaining valuable leadership experience and growing in confidence. In 2023, she learned about the opportunity to become a CRP-EP under the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP). When she heard about the Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDP) organized by Swayam Shikshan Prayog, she decided to participate and explore the idea of starting her own business.

The training gave her insights into business planning, market awareness, and boosted her confidence to become an entrepreneur. With support from the Block Resource Centre (BRC) in Bhokardan, Radha started a tailoring business. Using funds from the Community Enterprise Fund (CEF), she bought materials and expanded her services.

Today, Radha earns around โ‚น7,000 per month. She plans to invest in modern sewing machines to increase her output and hopes to employ other women from her village. Her success has not only improved her familyโ€™s financial condition, but also helped her children continue their studies in higher secondary school and college.

Radhaโ€™s strong connections with other women through the SHG network have allowed her to share her journey and inspire others. She is now seen as a role model in her community.

โ€œMy journey is a living example of how SVEP can transform lives,โ€ she says proudly.
