Championing Sustainable Farming and Clean Energy in Solapur

Sarika Pawar, a dynamic grassroots leader and entrepreneur from Marwade village in Mangalweda block, Solapur district, Maharashtra, is making remarkable strides in transforming rural livelihoods. Her primary focus areas are sustainable farming and clean energy, and she works closely with farmers to promote Women-led Climate Resilient Farming (WCRF) practices and the adoption of biogas for agricultural use.She has provided training on sustainable agriculture to women farmers and helped 87 farmers in her village and 7 surrounding villages install biogas units—reducing CO₂ emissions and replacing chemical inputs with bio-based alternatives. Her efforts have led to a total fertilizer savings of ₹1.27 lakh and supported 87 families in transitioning to organic farming. Beyond agriculture, she has supported 25 women in starting small enterprises and submitted loan applications to banks for 10 entrepreneurs. Her impact extends to 3 blocks, touching 110 families beyond her immediate area.
