Nagamma Biradar from Madnoor village, Karnataka, once lived a quiet life focused on household work and farming. Through Swayam Shikshan Prayog’s Women-Led Climate Resilient Farming initiative, she learned sustainable practices such as vermicomposting, natural pest control, Jivamrut, and Nimboli Ark.

Starting with a small experiment on her four-acre farm, Nagamma gradually reduced cultivation costs, improved soil health, increased vegetable yields by 25%, and now saves nearly โ‚น10,000 per acre each season.

Today, she confidently shares her knowledge with fellow farmers, and her farm has become a learning site for women and men from nearby villages.

“People now come to my field to learn. That never happened before,” says Nagamma.

Her journey shows how rural women can become leaders in building climate resilient communities.
