In the quiet village of Kumbhari in Jalna, Maharashtra, lives Komal Badiye-a woman whose life took a dramatic turn after her husband was left permanently disabled. With no regular income, Komal had to take full responsibility for her family.

Despite the hardships, Komal had a deep interest in knotting. In September 2023, she joined the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) under the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP), facilitated by Swayam Shikshan Prayog. The training taught her business planning, financial literacy, market understanding, problem-solving, and most importantly, how to think like an entrepreneur.

With a clear business plan, Komal began making and selling handmade knotting products. She now sells them in local markets and also takes custom orders, both single and bulk. Her daily income has risen from β‚Ή200 to β‚Ή500, giving her financial stability and easing her burdens.

Today, Komal is financially independent, confident, and full of hope. Her journey has inspired many women in her village to dream of running their own businesses. She is now planning to expand her enterprise and train other women in the art of macrame, sharing the skills that changed her life.

Komal says, β€œEmpowerment is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering sustainable development.”
