Godavari founded the first women’s federation to work on women’s economic and leadership development which presently has more than 5000 members. Godavari is a pioneer in community climate resilience and food secure agriculture which promoted the one-acre model. She is the Secretary of the Sakhi Federation in Osmanabad, Maharashtra.
Some of the key global events that Godavari has participated in are:
- Represented grassroots women leaders and farmers from Swayam Shikshan Prayog to receive the UNDP Equator Prize 2017 at New York in September 2017.
- Rio+20 to showcase the critical role of grassroots women in sustainable development, Brazil, 2012.
- Panelist at the UNISDR to present the initiative of women in drought situation, Geneva, 2013.
- Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan, 2015.
- Global Ambassador to the UN in the IFAD and Huairou Commission on Rural Women in Sustainable Agriculture a global initiative and she has traveled to over eight countries to share her experiences.
