She had to leave school after the 10th standard. After marriage, with her husband physically disabled, responsibility became her constant companion. Days were spent between farm labour and household work, with little hope that anything would change.
When Jyoti joined the trainings with Swayam Shikshan Prayog India, she didnโt imagine she would one day stand confidently in Gram Sabha meetings. She began by listening. Then she started asking questions. Soon, she was guiding other women.
Because of her efforts, 25 women farmers in her village received government-supported jowar input bags. Nearly 60 farmers began experimenting with organic practices like Jeevamrut and Dashparni Ark. Through the Maharashtra Direct Benefit Transfer (MAHADBT) portal, farmers accessed 5 sprayers, 1 solar pump, and 2 fruit orchard plantations. She has also helped submit 30 applications under the Jaltara water scheme.
But beyond the numbers, something deeper shifted.
Women who once stayed silent are now speaking in village meetings. Farmers who hesitated to approach officials now walk into government offices with confidence. Information that once felt distant now feels reachable.
Jyoti did not just bring schemes to her village โ she brought belief.โI never thought I would come this far,โ she says quietly. โI never imagined my village would benefit from the training I received.โ
