Exemplifying leadership through entrepreneurial endeavors
Seema Uchale, a resilient entrepreneur from Tamalwadi village in Dharashiv district, has successfully transformed her life and supported her family despite early financial struggles. Growing up in a family of eight, Seema contributed to the family farm while studying up to the 5th standard. As she took on the responsibility of managing household expenses, medical needs, and her children’s education, she realized the need for additional income sources.
In January 2023, Seema learned about Swayam Shikshan Prayog SSP and joined their entrepreneurship training program, where she received comprehensive business management skills. Armed with this knowledge, Seema started a small flour mill business. She invested Rs 25,000 of her savings and secured a Rs 50,000 loan from her self-help group to fund the business.
Her venture quickly grew, and Seema expanded her operations by adding a chutney-making machine. She diversified her product offerings to include vegetables from local farmers, raw spices, red chilies, and black chilies. The success of her business enabled her to acquire a second flour mill, and by September 2024, she had cleared her loan.
Today, Seema’s business provides services to nearby villages, grocery stores, and hotels, with her monthly earnings ranging from Rs 10,000 to 12,000. She has also integrated digital payment methods to make transactions more efficient.
Seema credits her success to the training and support from SSP, which empowered her to overcome adversity and build a thriving business. She takes pride in owning her mill, earning respect and dignity in her community, and standing on her own feet as a symbol of resilience and determination.
