Journey from a Housewife to Successful Entrepreneur

Renu Devi was an ordinary housewife with limited dreams from Rampurdih village in Darbhanga. Renu’s family possesses very little land for agriculture & Renu found it extremely difficult to run the family with this limited resource. In an attempt to look for an alternative, Renu joined Ganga Self Help group. It is through this SHG that she got a chance to attend trainings held by Swayam Shikshan Prayog & learned new skills in business.
Gradually, she learned computer for banking service & applied for Customer Service Point (CSP) of Grameen Bank. She got selected & was allotted the centre in her village. Renu did not stop at only one centre. Soon after, she opened another centre in a neighbouring village owing to the success of her first centre.

Today, Renu earns around 15000 to 20000 a month from both centres. “What I am today is due to my confidence and hard work. I have constructed a new house from my business and my children are able to eat healthy food. I want to expand my business in new areas”, says Renu Devi. Renu become a role model for entrepreneurship and inspiration for many women in her neighbourhood.
