In Longaon village of Jalna district, Maharashtra, her family depended on her husbandβs photography work, which was limited to weddings and events. During off-seasons, especially the monsoon months, income would almost stop. Managing household needs, healthcare, and the education of two young children became a constant struggle. With little savings and limited opportunities, Daivshali began exploring ways to earn from home.
βA turning point came in 2022 when she joined the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), implemented by Swayam Shikshan Prayog, where she underwent the Entrepreneurship Development Programme. Through this, she gained practical skills in business planning, financial management, and record keepingβalong with the confidence to take her first step.
In January 2023, Daivshali started a small home-based tailoring unit with support from her Self-Help Group. What began as a single service gradually grew into a multi-service enterprise. She expanded into a grocery shop with a bank loan, and further diversified by offering xerox, photo printing, mat making, and book binding services. She also integrated photography and videography to align with seasonal demandβturning vulnerability into opportunity.
Today, Daivshali earns a steady daily income and has created a reliable, year-round livelihood system. Her family now experiences greater financial stability, improved access to healthcare, and uninterrupted education for her children. Her journey has also inspired other women in her group to start their own businesses.
βSVEP gave me confidence and direction. Today, I am proud to support my family through my own business.β
Daivshaliβs story shows how resilience, when combined with the right support, can build lasting change.
