Agri-allied business became the mainstay of Vidya Randive’s Life
Vidya Ranadive is a model farmer and entrepreneur from Bavi village of Osmanabad. Married at 19, she struggled in the beginning and was forced to return to her village from Pune city due to financial difficulties. The couple was engaged in farming and dairy business, along with seasonal jaggery selling before she got training on agri-allied businesses from SSP. During her initial days, she received INR 30k from the Animal Husbandry Dept, INR 20k from Sakhi Samudaya Kosh (SSK), a Microfinance Institution as loan which was invested in poultry farming. With a total of INR 1.5 lakhs and 100 chicks, she set up her business.
Vidya now owns 300 chicks and sells eggs and chicken in the village while continuing the milk business. She has helped 20 women in giving basic knowledge of entrepreneurship and helped six women set up their own businesses. Vidya now makes an income of INR 10k monthly. Her zeal and hope to address the needs of the community is appreciated. ‘Thanks to Swayam Shikshan Prayog for giving me the technical knowledge and handholding support’ says Vidya.
