The will to `Learn and Earn’
With a small piece of land and water scarcity, farming was a big problem in rural Maharashtra. Hailing from Gangapur village in Latur, Suryaban Wagmare challenged the situation and inspired many women from her communities.
With poor financial conditions, she was married off at early age, but her belief to change and give education to her three kids was her major goal.
The `will to learn and earn’ made her take up SSP’s organic farming training. She started with 10 gunta of organic vegetables that were sold in the village Market, which earned her ₹5000 every month.
She experimented and introduced different varieties of vegetables, attracted more customers and earned ₹2 lakh in 3 months as profit. Vandana is happily working in the farming field and inspiring other women.
“I am honoured at my home and communities, and dream to make my kids good education”, says Vandana.
