Sangita Kumari is empowering women farmers through climate-resilient farming and sustainable practices. Trained in Women-Led Climate Resilient Farming (WCRF) by Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP), she has introduced low-cost, resource-efficient techniques to boost productivity.

Her most significant achievement is the zero-tillage potato cultivation method, which eliminates ploughing and reduces labour by 80%, costs by 90%, and irrigation by 70%. By using organic manure instead of chemicals and incorporating straw mulch into the soil, she has improved soil fertility and moisture retention while reducing pollution.

Her efforts have increased her seasonal income from โ‚น40,000 to โ‚น60,000, enhanced her decision-making power, and benefited over 100 farmers directly and 500 people indirectly. Through innovation and leadership, Sangita is transforming agriculture and proving that women farmers are key to sustainable development.

She was honored with the Prema Gopalan Sakhi Prerana Award in Pune on February 1st for her contribution to empowering women in climate resilient farming practices.
