Entrepreneurship Training which showed Sangeeta the way to live
Sangeeta Fawde is from Nagarsoga village, Ausa in Latur, Maharashtra. She got married after passing 10th standard and now lives with her husband and two children. The one acre land which the family owned was used by her father-in-law and the video center set up by her husband did not earn much income. Financial situation to meet her family’s day-to-day expenditure was very bad.
She wanted to get out of the house and do something, but her family did not allow the women to go out for work. Her husband moved to Pune city in 2010 and got a job as a driver with a payment of INR. 10,000 per month. During this time, she formed a Self Help Group named Indrayani and became group’s President.
Sangeeta requested her father for a sewing machine. She started a shop, but she could earn only up to INR 1000 per month. In 2016, she participated in the entrepreneurship training organized by SSP. “After the training, I knew the importance of even a one rupee and I had a better understanding of how to communicate with customers and how to increase the customers”.
Eventually, she started selling blouse pieces and pico fall. Her income doubled and her confidence in the business began to grow. In 2019, her husband returned home and she took a loan of Rs.40,000 from SSK (the MFI associated with SSP) to start a clothing business. Currently, her monthly income is INR. 25,000. The bank installment is paid from the car on rental service by her husband. From both of their income from multiple businesses, they started earning a net profit of INR. 40,000 per month. Her success story was published in a newspaper. After reading the news, her father bought 10 copies of the newspaper and shared his happiness with his relatives and neighbors.
“I started receiving respect and recognition from my relatives and communities. Now, my plan is to build a cement concrete house, complete my children’s education and grow my business. I want to earn a living for my family members and be a role model for other women like me.” Sangeeta. She is so happy to acknowledge that she could be a mentor to six other women to become blooming entrepreneurs in the last one year.
