Hard work & patience paved the way for Bindu Devi to become a successful entrepreneur
With no support and money, it was hard for Bindu Devi to run the family and educate her kids. This has forced her to look for options to earn money. She opened a shop in her village with Rs. 5000 from her savings. Unfortunately, the shop did not run very well due to the lack of knowledge in business.
Bindu Devi participated in the Entrepreneurship Development Training organised by SSP for the rural women in February 2020 and Bindu Devi enrolled in it. She learnt about promotion of solar products, marketing skills, quality products and consumer behaviors in the training.
When the COVID hit the area, she turned the crisis into an opportunity. Quickly she applied for a loan and got INR 1 lakh from her Self Help Group and local bank. Bindu bought new items and expanded her business with solar lights and lanterns, groceries and daily needs to cater different customers. A visibly happy Bindu earns around Rs 8000 every month as profit.
“The training brought me here. I am more confident and also my income from the business has increased. Now I can run my family well and educate my children”, says Bindu Devi.
