Project Overview :

Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP), supported by Axis Bank Foundation, is conducting a comprehensive livelihood enhancement project aimed at improving the quality of life for 22,000 rural households across 220 villages in the Ausa, Nilanga, and Deoni Blocks of Latur District. Over a span of 4 years, this initiative aims to uplift rural communities by enhancing their livelihoods.

Scope of Work:

We are seeking an experienced consultant or agency to conduct a study on ‘Livelihood Strategies for Small and Marginal Farmer Households (SMFH) in Latur District.’ The study will involve the following:

  1. Review and Analysis:
    • Assess the different models of livelihood development attempted in the district.
    • Evaluate their effectiveness in addressing challenges faced by the SMFH community.
    • Identify strengths and limitations, and provide recommendations to enhance future interventions.
  2. Primary and Secondary Research:
    • Employ both primary and secondary research methods to gain comprehensive insights.
    • Formulate a set of actions for vulnerable SMFHs to address livelihood challenges.
  3. Outcome and Impact:
    • The study’s findings will be used for designing better livelihood programs.
    • Results will also be leveraged to influence policy decisions aimed at improving rural livelihoods.
Consultant Responsibilities:
  1. Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough research to understand the current livelihood strategies.
    • Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to gather data.
  2. Reporting and Recommendations:
    • Develop a comprehensive report that outlines findings, insights, and actionable recommendations.
    • Provide strategic guidance on future livelihood interventions for the community.

Submission Requirements: Interested consultants/agencies should submit a detailed proposal that includes:

  • Company/Consultant Profile: Background, expertise, and experience in conducting similar studies, especially in rural development.
  • Research Plan: Detailed approach, methodology, and timeline for the study.
  • Cost Proposal: Detailed budget including fees, research costs, and any other expenses.
  • References: Case studies or references from previous projects involving similar work.

Selection Criteria: Proposals will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Expertise: Experience in livelihood development studies and working with rural communities.
  • Research Plan Quality: Clear and effective research methodology and approach.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Competitive pricing while maintaining quality.
  • Implementation Capability: Ability to deliver within project timelines and provide in-depth analysis.
