Advertisement for Selection of Vendor for Toilet Units Construction and Setting up of Hand wash stations at Schools in Nanded and Washim districts

Need

SSP seeks a vendor to do toilet & hand wash station construction in 30 schools of Nanded and Washim districts. In each school, four toilets units and hand wash stations has to be constructed according to the given design.

About SSP Organization: Established in 1998, Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP) transformed a government program into a community-led initiative post-Latur earthquake. Focusing on women in water-scarce regions, SSP operates across seven Indian states, especially Marathwada. SSP has empowered over 350,000 women leaders, impacting more than 6 million lives. Their initiatives span 3,274 villages in 30 districts, focusing on Climate Resilient Farming, Clean Energy, Water and Sanitation, Health and Nutrition, and Women’s Entrepreneurship.

About The Project: Wash & Gender transformation project will be implemented in 200 villages across 4 blocks of Nanded and Washim districts, the two aspirational districts in Maharashtra.

Project Summary and Need:

The Marathwada region in Maharashtra faces significant water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) challenges due to frequent droughts and a 30% rainfall deficit, impacting women disproportionately. To address this, our project aims to integrate comprehensive WASH interventions with climate resilience and sustainable water management, focusing on women’s needs to promote health and gender equality across the two aspirational districts of Washim and Nanded in Maharashtra.

Assignment in Brief: Construction of new toilets in 30 schools and repair of existing toilets in 30 schools.

Outputs and Deliverables:

  • 200 Arogya Sakhis along with the Asha workers lead the WASH program in the community, facilitating collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure WASH services in the village and the adoption of climate resilient farming, WASH and nutrition practices at the household level.
  • 20,000 underserved families across 200 villages with improved annual water management, budgeting and usage of toilets and WASH infrastructure construction priorities included in the Gram Panchayat Development Plan
  • At least 70% families adopt enhanced management practices for drinking water collection, storage, handling, and improved budgeting of water for toilet usage, personal hygiene and nutrition
  • 6,000 girls and boys from diverse backgrounds in the schools question and challenge discriminatory gender norms, adopting positive behaviours to confront bias and discriminatory practices with support from peer groups, parents, and teachers in an enabling environment.
  • At least 50% increase in men and boys’ active participation, emphasizing their responsibilities and accountabilities for gender equality across the 200 project villages
  • Enabling at least 5,000 households to access government schemes at the panchayat and block levels, fostering improved water, sanitation, and health outcomes and increased participation of communities in dialogue meetings with government officials for program convergence.
 

Contract Period:

The contract period for the project is between the next four months duration, targeted to end by January 2025 subject to the discretion of SSP management. The contract will be governed by standard terms of service contracts of the organization, shared with shortlisted candidates upon request.

Qualification & Experience:

We are looking for reliable and experience civil contractor for school toilet & hand wash station construction to partner with us on this impactful project. Ideal partners will have:

  • Proven Expertise: Vendors must have qualifications in providing construction services with a minimum of 5 years of experience and a demonstrated track record in similar assignments.
  • Quality Assurance: Commitment to quality construction.
  • Sustainability Focus: Alignment with our mission to improve the quality of life & and promote healthy behaviour among school children’s & their education performance.

Competitive pricing: contractors will be selected based on the competitive prices & quality construction offer. Interested vendors should submit a financial plan estimate quotation reflecting their experience for quality construction

Selection Process:

A shortlist of up to three vendors will be established based on expressions of interest. Evaluations will consider updated resumes, financial offers, and references, focusing on:

  • Proven expertise in similar projects
  • Quality assurance and sustainability focus
  • Cost-effectiveness of the financial offer.
