Learning in time of crisis
Till 2018, Vandana’s daily life consisted of household chores and husband leading all decisions, until she met the Swayam Shikshan Prayog leader. She enrolled for agriculture training and turned her two acres of land into an organic farm.
Now Vandana along with 15 women lead her Agri group association in Deogaon, Solapur. She inspired women to adopt sustainable agri practices such as one acre model practice, usage of organic fertilizers of Dashparni ark, Agni sutra, vermicompost beds to improve the soil quality and successfully shifting from cash crops to organic farming. Her income doubled to Rs 1 lakh in 2018.
Vandana’s knowledge and experience has led other women in her village to adopt sustainable agriculture. She is proud to represent SSP at various events and as a part of SSPs Agri group. She is able to access benefits From Government Agri departments such as ATMA, KVK etc.
